My Loving Country: Bangladesh/My Homeland

Bangladesh is situated in south-east Asia. It became independent in 1971 after a nine months’ long bloody war. The land area of Bangladesh is 147570 square kilometers. About 15 crores of people live in this small country. Bangladesh is an agricultural country. So most of the people here are farmers. Besides, there are businessmen, fishermen, weavers, potters, artists, doctors, engineers etc. contribute greatly for our national economy. Most of the people are Muslims. Besides, there Hindus, Christians and Buddhists and many tribal communities make our land an abode of variety. People here speak in Bangla. Women mainly wear saree and salwar-kameez. Men wear pants, shirt, paijama, panjabi, loongi etc. Rice with fish and dal is the staple food of them. Bread, cakes of different types, sweetmeats, hotchpotch are also taken here. Padma, Meghna, Jamuna, Brahmaputra are the main rivers of Bangladesh. Dhaka is the capital city of Bangladesh. Cox’s Bazar sea beach, the Sundarbans, the Ruins of Buddhist Bihara, Kuakata, St. Martin Island etc. are the famous places of Bangladesh. We have got many poets and artists in our country. Kazi Nazrul Islam, Jasim Uddin, Mc. Madhushudhan, Samsur Rahman are our main poets. Among the artist Jainul Abedin, Kamrul Hasan, Hashem Khan, Rafiqun Nabi are mentionable. I love my country very much.
